Zenith teams up with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers for its latest version of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport. Decked out in the livery of the New York Jets, the Zenith Chronomaster Sport is equipped with the latest generation high-frequency El Primero chronograph calibre displaying 1/10th of a second. Designed by Aaron Rodgers, who also happens to be a Zenith ambassador, green is the predominant colour reflecting the quarterback’s stellar trajectory with the Green Bay Packers and now the New York Jets.

Aaron Rodgers (1983) is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in American football and secured the Green Bay Packers a Super Bowl championship in 2011. Leaving his green uniform with gold numbers and stripes for the ‘Gotham Green’ of the New York Jets just ahead of the 2023 season, Rodgers has also clocked up four MVP (most valuable player) awards. Zenith also has a celebrity line-up of chronographs launched in 1969 equipped with the famous – and first – automatic chronograph movement known as the El Primero. The A386, one of the three inaugural automatic chronographs with a round case and tri-colour dial, was upgraded in 2021 with the latest-generation 5Hz high-frequency calibre capable of measuring and displaying 1/10th of a second. Ranging from faithful reproductions of historical models to more contemporary and sportier takes, the Chronomaster Sport adopts the colours of Aaron Rodgers’ New York Jets. Using the 41mm Zenith Chronomaster Sport with its pump-style pushers and bevelled lugs as a template, the Aaron Rodgers model features a new green ceramic bezel engraved with a 1/10th of a second scale. Underscoring its sporty looks, the 100m water-resistant chronograph comes with a three-link steel bracelet with a fine-adjustment clasp with satin-brushed and polished finishings to match the case. The dial is also green and lacquered with a sunburst finish. Another novelty, making a first for the Zenith Chronomaster Sport collection, is the use of applied and luminescent Arabic numerals inspired by the numbers used on the jerseys of New York Jets players. The three overlapping sub-dials are picked out in shades of anthracite, light grey and silver and feature snailed interiors. The hour and minute hands are also luminescent, and the central chronograph seconds hand features a yellow tip and the signature Zenith star counterweight completing a full turn around the dial in 10 seconds – six times faster than a standard chronograph hand. The 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock and the 60-second one at 3 o’clock also feature yellow-tipped hands to distinguish them from the running seconds at 9 o’clock. Like other Chronomaster Sport editions, the date window is tucked between the applied numerals at 4 and 5 o’clock and blends discreetly with its green background and white numerals. The historical El Primero base movement with its column wheel and horizontal coupling architecture is retained but updated to reflect 21st-century standards. Calibre El Primero 3600, which operates at a frequency of 36,000vph/5Hz, delivers enhanced chronometric measurements of 1/10th of a second and gives the chronograph seconds hand its smooth sweeping motion. Its increased efficiency results in an increased power reserve of 60 hours wound by the openworked star-shaped rotor. Another detail referencing Aaron Rodgers is the AR signature on the sapphire crystal display back.
